For my Indiana taxes, I incorrectly applied my payment as an "estimated payment" for 2022, not of as a "return payment" for 2021. How can I apply this payment to 2021?
I have proof that I paid the full amount of my owed IN taxes, but I recently received a bill indicating that I never paid. After some investigation I believe I accidentally labeled the payment as an "estimated payment" for 2022. I'd like to transfer this payment to the 2021 tax season if possible.

Contact the Indiana Department of Revenue and ask them if they can redirect your payment. The bill that you received might have specific contact information.
Understand that this is not a common or routine request.
