Dear TT Experts,
In past years, when ready to e-file, TT will instruct to mail Form 8453 with the 1099-B to IRS Austin, TX,
But for the current 2025 tax return, TT Windows 11 Premier is not giving this instruction.
Is it still an IRS requirement that TT forgot or the requirement has been eliminated?
Thank you so much!

Yes, your cost basis was reported and as long as you had NO adjustments, you won't be required to send in your 1099-B details.
It is only required in certain situations; the requirements are the same for 2025 as they have been in the past. When do I have to mail in my 1099-B?
Maybe your entries were not summarized this year.....As long as your return doesn't contain Form 8453 and you entered all of your 1099-B information, you do not need to mail anything in.
Dear TT Experts,
I just took another look at my two (2) Forms 1099-B which I only entered the summaries in TT.
Both Forms stated that the basis was reported to the IRS. Is that the reason that TT did not give advise to mail the forms to IRS Austin?
More importantly, does this mean I need NOT mail the forms to Austin, after I e-file my return?
Thank you so much!
Yes, your cost basis was reported and as long as you had NO adjustments, you won't be required to send in your 1099-B details.
in Forms mode at the bottom of the Capital Asset Sales Worksheet there is a flag indicating if you need to send in the info. If you check for your 1099Bs you should see these set to "No".
As others stated if you don't have adjustments or non-covered items you don't need to do this step.
Going forward if this does come up again, you can also avoid the mailing by splitting up your 1099B and entering these items with the details "one by one" and the rest of the 1099B as sales summaries. This doesn't take long to do as long as you don't have many sales to enter at the detailed level.
