First time to prepare my taxes on my own. I am attempting to purchase the Premium license that is discounted to $54.99, but it appears to be unavailable. After 1/1/17?

The Premier online edition is currently $54.99 as shown on this TurboTax website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

Using the online editions there is no charge until you either e-file the return or print the tax return.  If you would like to purchase the online edition before e-filing or printing the return, then follow this procedure -

You have to start a 2016 return from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

You must enter some basic personal information in the Personal Info section of the program to include your Social Security number.   

To pay the TurboTax online account fees by credit card, without completing the 2016 return at this time, click on My Account at the top of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  On the next page, to pay by credit card, click Pay Now.  On the next screen just click on the Continue button.  The next screen will ask for all your credit card information so you can pay for the account.
