Filing Federal Taxes requires State for driver's license but unable to select a state as the pull-down menu does not work

A driver's license number is not required to file a federal tax return.

Select Do not have either a license or a state ID

And does not have an expiration date

Providing your  license info, in many cases, isn't required to file your federal taxes. But you have to be aware that in some states, omitting this info may delay the processing of your return or may reject the e-file without it.

To resolve this issue, try the following:

• Click into the state where ‌you have the issue, then type the state's name or abbreviation directly.

•  Completely log out of TurboTax, try to clear your Cache and Cookies, and then log back in.

Even though many states don't need ‌driver's license information, if your state asks for it and you still have the issue, you may need to file your state return by mail.
