Filing 2019 and 2020 Taxes

I have completed my 2020 tax information and then I purchased or filled out my 2019 forms. However, when I finished my 2019 forms, something happened and now I don't know how to retrieve my 2019 information. I need assistance.

Thank you

Michael OConnor

Did you purchase the CD/download 2019 software and install it on your Mac or Windows computer?

Only 2020 can be completed online.   If you tried to do it online then the 2nd entries would overwrite and destroy the first.

Filing 2019 and 2020 Taxes

@malika37 You added to someone else's unrelated thread.   Did you already e-file your tax return?    If you have NOT filed your return yet then you can add a dependent by entering the dependent's information in My Info.

If you already filed your 2020 return, you have to wait until it has been fully processed and then amend it in order to add a dependent.

Select your tax year for amending instructions:

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return.  During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six months or more for many amended returns.  Do not expect quick results from amending.  When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check.  They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns.  You can watch for information here:
