The first page of your tax return PDF is the Filing instructions - that page will show the account and amount you have scheduled. It normally takes the IRS a few days to take the payment, but it is effective the date you scheduled it.
what if I don't have filing instructions as part of my PDF. Does that prove that I didn't set it up right, and should just submit directly at IRS site?
You can go back in your return (select add a state to open it up), then go back to print ALL the forms and worksheets. If you elected to have the funds withdrawn, you will see that on the Federal Information Worksheet in the pdf file. If you didn't select a date, then the default date is 4/15.
Thank you for the advice on how to get back to the print center!
The pdf I had printed was not the full return, once I opened the optional doc with worksheet, I was able to see that I had set up the withdrawal properly. I guess they're just backlogged taking my money since I filed on 4/10.
Now I can rest easy.
