File Tax USA and CANADA

For  2021 I am considered a resident alien and my spouse was also a resident alien as she stayed 190 in the USA  but she was not employed.For 170 days she was employed in CANADA.

How to file tax in Turbo tax that cares of US and CANADA tax.

  1. Is she considered as a deemed nonresident for CANADA? Can she file deemed nonresident using Turbo tax?
  2. Is the below approach right?

My wife filed tax in CANADA first using TURBO TAX CANADA  and once we know the final tax paid to CANADA

Then

I file tax in the USA  married filed jointly using turbo tax the USA and  put my wife CANADA income as foreign income and  tax paid as tax credit

Yes, your wife would be considered a 'non-resident' for Canadian tax purposes if she lived there for 170 days.

Yes, filing as you proposed as MFJ resident aliens, and reporting the Foreign Income/Foreign Tax Paid would be correct.

File Tax USA and CANADA

@MarilynG1  Thank you for response

I understand that my wife can file tax in CANADA  as non resident .I have  one question

Non resident form for CANADA has spouse detail section .Looks like if person is married then tax return should be filled as married and it is mandatory to give spouse details and world income

I did'nt went to CANADA and was working in USA  for US employer and I don't have CANADA ITIN or SIN so in my wife CANADA income tax return what should be entered in spouse section ? I am not sure if I should be declaring my USA income there ..

This link on Canadian Taxes says that each person files their own return.

If married, you need to give info on your spouse, but not report their income.
