File tax extension twice for the same year on different platforms, what should I do?

Since I was late filing the extension on the last day, I first tried using Free File Fillable Forms to submit the extension, but after waiting for a few hours, it was still pending. So I also tried IRS Direct Pay to submit the extension again. Will this cause any issues with my case? How should I resolve it? Both extension submissions are still showing as pending.

Since both extensions were filed electronically, it is likely that the first one that is processed will cause the second one to just be a duplicate submission.  The duplicate one will either be rejected or simply ignored.  Everything should be fine with the first that goes through.

Thank you, now my first extension request got approved, the second one is pending. Am I good? Can I cancel the second one? I can't find any way to cancel it so far.

@rainbowturtle Since the first extension request as accepted, the second request will probably be rejected by the IRS.  There is nothing you need to do.
