I'm having the same problem on the Windows version.  The field is highlighted in blue with an arrow.  When I click on one of the people to link to, the name flashes in the field then disappears.  Even though the form says keep for your records, I am not permitted to e-file.

I have the same issue with the online version. Stuck and unable to move forward. Only option is to file by mail or Fix return. When I click fix return it just spins me back to the problem with no option to fix.

I have been having the same problem for weeks.   I'm still getting the useless error message about Enrollmentstatus with no way to fix it.  I have elementary students and passed money through a state 529 to pay the private school tuition.   It seems turbotax desktop cannot account for this.  This situation was handled fine by Turbotax in prior years.  This is not what I expect from a paid product!

+1 for this. I can't file taxes electronically from the Desktop app.

Also offensive: the spelling errors.

Same error. I read on another post that an agent said to share the created token number and State being filed in. They might be able to fix.

I have a high school student and used 529 to pay tuition. I ended up deleting the associated person worksheet so I could file my taxes.  The downside is that my 529 withdrawals were taxed. Hopefully TurboTax will fix the issue and I can amend my return to get the money back.

@chp421 Using the token you provided, I was able to see the error you were describing.  I noticed that you had two dependents on your return and it looks like one of them was a college student.  I was able to clear the error using the following steps:

  1. Go to the Deductions & Credits section on the main page or the left side menu
  2. Go Down to the Education section and click Revisit by Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T)
  3. On the next screen stating you can't claim tuition and other fees, click Continue
  4. Your Education summary will appear on the next screen.  The first dependent appears to be the college student.  Edit that dependent's education.
  5. You will get screens asking out their degree, common situations, uncommon situations, enrollment status, and first year of college.
  6. Next will be their school - edit that information
  7. Yes for did he get a 1098-T
  8. School info will be on the next page
  9. Enter the 1098-T information on that screen.  Even though the dependent doesn't qualify you for education credits, be sure to enter those amounts and especially the At least half-time student question.
  10. Click continue for Add any other financial aid, Did [name] have any of these situations for their scholarship or grant?, and It looks like [name] doesn't qualify.
  11. It looks like your 2nd dependent is not in college, so his information in the Education summary can be deleted,

Did this work?

In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form. Then find the Retun Worksheet: Enrollmentstatus. Be sure to click through all your forms via the 'Next page' links at the bottom of the forms window because it could be on page 3 or 4 for you of all the forms in your taxes. Select Delete next to the form. Then E-file your taxes.

This took me more than 4 hours, and the 8th turbo tax specialist was able to resolve it.  Hope this tip saves YOUR sanity and time.

@RogerD1 ’s suggested steps resolved the issue for me.

I originally omitted the 1098T form from my filing as TurboTax help info suggested that it should be entered on my son‘s tax return instead.

Following these steps allowed the “Smart Check” to complete without any errors.

You just saved me!

2 agents and a few hours and I paid for this!!! They should be ashamed, and fix the typos I think that was adding to my frustration!

There was a recived in there too somewhere in addition to “retun”.

so thankful for you.  I was in a with the agent when I saw and tried your fix.  I might’ve dropped some F bombs, oops.  Whatever.  Thanks again!!!!
