Federal Identification Number (FEIN) on 1099-INT for Interest earned in Foreign Bank Account

Hi,

What should I put in Federal Identification Number (FEIN) on 1099-INT for Interest earned in Foreign Bank Account? Turbotax flags that 99-9999999 or 11-1111111 or leaving blank is invalid. Or should I be reporting interest earned on Foreign bank account somewhere else. Let me know.

Thanks.

This field is not required for a 1099-INT or interest income entry. Leave the field completely blank and use the 'Delete' key to remove any entry you might have there.

Thank you @DianeW777 ! For now I put put in foreign interest income under Miscellaneous Income -> Other reportable income ; Does that work as well?

Yes, that should work since there is no special treatment for foreign interest when it comes to states. Check out the Foreign  Tax Credit in the links below if it applies to your situation.

You may qualify for the foreign tax credit or deduction. Please see the links below to begin your entry and the IRS exchange rates.
