The amount due on tax year 2025 1040-SR line 37 "The amount you owe" is shown to be $796. Also the "Federal Tax Due" window in Turbotax shows $796.
But on the page, "Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2025 Federal Tax Return":
"Your federal tax return (Form 1040-SR) shows a balance due of $793.00.
Your return shows you have elected to pay your balance due of $793.00
by Direct Debit using the following information:
Amount Withdrawn: $793.00"
I've efiled and scheduled a payment to be made for $793 in April of 2026. So now my scheduled payment is $3 short. I haven't found a way to modify the scheduled payment amount.
Why and how could the two amounts be different? I've rebooted and restarted several times, but the amounts remain to be different.
Thanks!

Rats.....I've got nothing.
Then it's up in the air as to what will happen...TTX just sends your bank information to the IRS. Then the IRS debits what they believe you owe based on what was sent in on the tax forms, in whatever digital format was used. They might debit 796 or 793.
Is there $3 on line 38??
IF so, then TTX may be letting the IRS calculate the penalty/interst that they may bill you later...separately.., since that penalty $$ amount can change depending on "exactly" when the IRS gets the main tax payment, (the $$ before the penalty was added)
No.
Line 38 is blank.

Yeah I would do nothing and wait and see what the IRS debits your account. The penalty is an estimated amount anyway. The IRS can adjust it and send you a bill for more or a refund.
Thank you for the advice!
I'm thinking that I will wait until a few days before the deadline and then make a payment of $3 to the IRS (or whatever the minimum is). At least that will bring my total payment up to what the return determined the amount to be and what I should have included to begin with. I don't want to be penalized for paying less than what TTX had determined I owed.
I've been using TTX for 25 years (??) And this is the first time this has happened.
Thanks again!
