Estimate tax payments after death of spouse
My wife passed away in 2020. Her death is properly annotated in the 2020 return. Will TurboTax know to calculate my estimated tax payments for 2021 based on the fact that I will have to file single in 2021 instead of "Married, filing joint"?

No. TurboTax will calculate your estimated payments as Married Filing Jointly unless you change your filing status in Form W-4 and estimated taxes.
- Type W-4 in Search in the upper right
- Click Jump to W-4
- Skip the screen Adjust How Much Tax You Pay by saying No to Do you want to change your W-4 withholdings for 2021?
- On Review Your Estimates? select Review Now
- Change your filing status to Single from Married filing jointly.
