Errors in Transferring prior year's tax return data

I mentioned 2 transfer errors in my 2024 Tax Return.  See https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/is-there-a-way-to-re-do-the-transfer-of-2023-s-ta...

So I decided to start a new 2024 tax return (for testing) and re-do the transfer of 2023 tax return data.  This New tax return has the same errors  (mentioned in the link above) .

And when I compare this new tax return with my 2023 tax return,  I see the derivation of the error in "2023 State Income Tax Paid with State Income Tax Return".  There seems to be a programming error/logic in the 2024 Turbotax (TT").  Is there an upload feature here -- so that I can show you the problem with this specific error?

The Foreign Tax Credit carryover is also missing for year 2023.  I haven't looked at all the other carryovers from 2023.

This is very disturbing -- I cannot trust TT's numbers!!!    I bought TT in Dec 2024.  How can I get a refund on the purchase of  TT 2024?

Errors in Transferring prior year's tax return data

Here's a couple of things you can try.  Open 2023 TurboTax and look at your 2023 return to see if it is correct.  If so, Save it again and try your transfer to 2024 using that file.  If you saved your 2023 return to a removable drive and then downloaded it to start 2024, it may have become corrupted.

If you think this may apply, check your TurboTax folders for a back-up copy of your 2023 return (usually there's at least one) and try transferring that file to 2024.

Another thing to try is a Manual Update, even if the Online shows no updates are pending.  It's also advisable to turn off your anti-virus programs, and run as Administrator when using TurboTax (right-click TurboTax icon).  Here's How to Turn Off Anti-Virus Programs  and more info on Troubleshooting TurboTax Desktop Issues.
