2025 Turbotax Deluxe Desktop.  In previous yrs, when I select a financial institution to enter interest or dividend, etc. , the name is already filled in and I entered the relevant numbers.  This year, however, then name is blank.  Is this a change from prior years?  Or is it just my installation?

Also, I tried to import the numbers, and it asked me to log into the investment company with the relevant Username and Password.  Prior yrs, I entered Document ID on the 1099.  Is that also a change?

The name is a change from prior years but the log in is an alternative option.  Your financial institution designs that interface.

Re  "The name is a change from prior years":  Why the change?  Turbo tax already has the name -- it is displayed on the screen (which name I clicked on to input this yr's data.  So why require us to do unnecessary data entry????

If there was a change in the name of the financial institution or their tax ID number, a new form will have to be entered as the new data will not match your prior year form that was saved.

There is no change in the financial institution.  As I stated, I click on the account shown on the page to input 2025 numbers!!!

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.

To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:

  1. Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
  2. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
  3. Toggle the switch to ON.
  4. Refresh the page and attempt your import again.

If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:

  • Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
  • Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
  • Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.
