Enter Federal Tax paid in 2016 for 2015
In general, Federal taxes paid for a prior year are not deductible on your federal tax return. You don't enter these payments in the Federal Taxes portion of the TurboTax interview.
However, some states allow a deduction for federal taxes paid during the tax year, including payments of prior year taxes. If this is true for your state, and you file a state tax return, TurboTax will ask you for this information during the State tax interview. (Click on State Taxes in the TurboTax header and choose the state you need to review.)
