Electronic filing with tax due required filing *one business day before 4/15* - making "tax day" Friday 12th, NOT Monday 15th. Turbotax should have told us this!

When I went to submit the efiling on 4/15, a message told me to choose a date "on or before 4/15" AND "one day after the date of submission" (which of course is impossible). I couldn't do the efiling until I changed the date to 4/16 which means I could be fined by the IRS for late payment.

That was a glitch that began mid-to-late afternoon on April 15.   See my full Answer below, and go to the other thread that I linked there, and review the FAQ there.  Expand it so you can read the section on what to do IF there are any penalties and interest in regards to the Accuracy Guarantee.

That was a known glitch..  TurboTax put out a FAQ with a statement that they would stand by any penalties and interest if the IRS does charge a late payment penalty.   I hope they are informing the IRS about what happened, and that the IRS will take this into consideration.

In any case, see the response from a TurboTax employee in the thread below.   Expand the FAQ there by clicking on the gray button "See Entire Answer", then read what it says about any penalties and the TurboTax Accuracy Guarantee.
