With the recent release of form 1116, Turbo tax is telling me that I cannot e-file my federal return. ( see picture ) A few questions here:
1. I read the forum answers on this, and there was a suggestion to delete the form and see if it come back. It seems that I have a carry over from last year. If I clear the carry over from last year ( $185 ), will this allow me to e-file? (I am trying to weigh what $185 will save me on taxes vs the pain to print it all out and mail it in )
2. Another possibility might be that prior to the form update, my turbo tax file is inconsistent ( corrupt ). It doesn't seem like it, but I cannot be sure.
3. Will this be fixed before April 15th?
4. If not, if I have to mail it in, can I use the free federal file to file for NJ instead? ( I have to file NY and NJ too )

Also, the next screen has this:
Even though the new form is released, this message implies there is another update coming or the dialog is left over and is not valid any more.
The form that is causing this is Form 1116 Schedule B, Foreign Tax Carryover Reconciliation Schedule. That is scheduled to be updated this Friday, March 11.
Unfortunately, in most states, you can't e-file your state if your federal was mailed in.
