Downloaded TurboTax 2023. Can't transfer 2022 data to this year's return, either by search method or browse. I see the .pdf file from last yr. Msg transfer unsuccessful.

I saved another .pdf copy of 2022 taxes in case the original was corrupted. Still no luck. TT support no help. Could Malwarebytes be the issue?

You need the 2022 tax data file to be on the computer where you installed the 2023 desktop program so you can select the 2022 data file to transfer to a New 2023 tax return. 

The 2022 tax data file has a file extension of .tax2022

If you used the TurboTax 2022 software on the same computer, the 2022 tax data file is stored, by default, in the TurboTax folder within the Document directory.  Unless you designated another location to save the files and any PDF's.

A PDF file is virtually useless...even if it did "take".  Only transfers bare minimum of names, SSN address with virtually nothing else.

If you don't have the main .tax file you might have one that starts with a Tilde sign ~ like "~your name.tax2022". That file is if your computer crashes or your real file gets lost or deleted or corrupt so you can restore it.

Here's an idea. Do you still have 2022 installed? Try opening 2022 program and see if you can get your 2022 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. 

In the 2022 program do a File-Save AS and give it a easy name you can find or search for. And note where it saves it or select where to save it so you can find it again. The file will end in .tax2022. Then close the 2022 program. Then start a new 2023 return and transfer from the 2022 file.

Are you on Windows 10? That can move files to different spots like to One Drive. Or to Drop Box. Could it be under a different user on your computer?

It should go in your Documents.  Then in a sub folder TurboTax.   And make frequent backups.
