@ mislam asked: "Does TurboTax Free Edition cover 1099-R retirement distribution?"
TurboTax Free Edition can report a 1099-R for most people--unless there is an early withdrawal penalty, which may also require Form 5329 in addition to the 1099-R. Form 5329 cannot be handled in Free Edition and requires Deluxe or higher. So when entering a 1099-R into Free Edition, if you are subject to an early withdrawal penalty, it would ask you to upgrade to Deluxe.
