Does Turbo Tax prompt you to report your county and city taxes? Is it optional?

Does Turbo Tax require you to report county and city taxes on federal forms?

It is optional if you are paid them separately from your W2 wages.  However, if these taxes were withheld on your W2 you would enter those lines from your W2 and they will automatically transfer to the Schedule A.  Remember any tax payments you made are considered in your itemized deduction totals.

Thanks DMarkM1for the help.  Are you in any way referring to the Standard Deduction versus itemizing everything?  I took the standard deduction.  So if I forgot to record my county and city taxes, would it matter?

Yes, I am referring to those deduction options and only if those city/local taxes paid pushed your itemized deductions above your standard deduction would they make a difference on your tax return.
