If you answered correctly the TurboTax questions in the Child tax credit section, the balance of your child tax credit should be included in your refund. It is not shown separately.
To check that the balance of the child tax credit is included in your refund, you can preview your form 1040 and check that the child tax credit is correctly calculated on line 28 of your form 1040.
Please preview your form 1040 by following these steps:
Ok because I’m my refund balance I only see $711. So to me I am thinking where is the $3,000 that I did not get. Unless it doesn’t show in the total refund Balance. I see my credit on the forms. Just not in my refund balance.
If you see the correct amount on line 28 of your form 1040, then this is already included in your refund. This means that without the child tax credit, you would owe taxes for 2021.
Without seeing the whole tax return, I cannot comment you would have tax due without the child tax credit.
@alessa1025 Not sure what you mean by "peanuts". The other half of the CTC that you can receive on your 2021 return is on line 28. But that amount can be reduced by any tax liability that you have that you would otherwise have to PAY as tax due to the IRS.
