There is an increase in the Standard Deduction if a person is legally blind. The amount of increase depends on their filing status.
Standard deductions for 2022
Single - $12,950 add $1,750 if age 65 or older or legally blind
Married Filing Separately - $12,950 add $1,400 if age 65 or older or legally blind
Married Filing Jointly - $25,900 add $1,400 for each spouse age 65 or older or legally blind
Head of Household - $19,400 add $1,750 if age 65 or older or legally blind
You do not "get" money for being legally blind. An amount is added to your standard deduction if you are legally blind, thereby making less of your income taxable. There is a question in My Info in which you can enter that the person is legally blind, and the software will add that amount to the standard deduction.
Your standard deduction lowers your taxable income. It is not a refund. You will see your standard or itemized deduction amount on line 12 of your 2022 Form 1040.
