Do you have to do anything special if you switch jobs in the middle of the year on taxes? Can you claim yourself on both jobs if they don't overlap?
It's very common that adding two or more W-2s for the year increases your tax. Income taxes are computed on your total income and withholding for the year, no matter whether you worked the jobs at the same time of if you switched jobs in the middle of the year. You may have claimed too many allowances on your W-4's.
