Do we qualify for Daycare Credit? Both my wife and I worked. My self-employed wife didn't earn a profit, but she did earn income. Shouldn't it still qualify us?

It depends what you mean by income. Please feel free to post any additional details or questions in the comment section.

To qualify for the childcare credit, both of you must have earned income. That can be from wages, or from net profit from a business. Income from a business is not enough, there must be a net profit to qualify. If the business has a net loss, then the person owning the business has no earned income for purposes of the childcare credit.

  • The earned income requirement for one spouse is waived if s/he was a full-time student or
  • Disabled, if they lived with the other spouse for more than 6 months in 2017
