Do unsolicited monetary gifts to a retiree from a former employer count as income?

My former employer freely chooses to pay my monthly insurance premiums up to a certain amount even though I am permanently retired and no longer employed and do no work for the employer.

No - The amounts are considered gifts.  What a thoughtful employer!
