Do I sign my name in the tax' preparer line for my deceased mom?

How do I file taxes for my deceased mother on TurboTax?

If you missed that screen, you can enter the information in the Personal Info section:

  1. Click on the Personal Info tab.
  2. Click on Edit next to your mother's name. [See Screenshot #1, below.

Go further down the input, mark the box that I'm preparing this return for [mother's name], who has passed away.

no physical signature is possible and that box is only for paid preparers who aren't suppose yo use Turbotax.

Who should sign the return
When e-filing, the surviving spouse or representative should follow the directions provided by the software for the correct signature and notation requirements

Other documents to include
Court-appointed representatives should attach a copy of the court document showing their appointment.
Representatives who aren't court-appointed must include Form 1310, Statement of Person Claiming Refund Due a Deceased Taxpayer to claim any refund. Surviving spouses and court-appointed representatives don't need to complete this form.
The IRS doesn't need a copy of the death certificate or other proof of death.

If you are printing and mailing the return, refer to the instructions below; do not sign in the "Paid Preparer" section.

If a personal representative has been appointed, that person must sign the return. If it is a joint return, the surviving spouse must also sign it. If no personal representative has been appointed, the surviving spouse (on a joint return) signs the return and writes in the signature area “Filing as surviving spouse.” If no personal representative has been appointed and if there is no surviving spouse, the person in charge of the decedent's property must file and sign the return as “personal representative.”
