Do I report my portion or what the provider billed?

For lab and x-rays, what am I looking at on the EOB for the year?

If you itemize you can deduct what you paid if it was not reimbursed. But you can only deduct the total medical expenses greater than 7.5 percent of your AGI.

Only enter the amount that you actually paid in 2025. The EOB does not tell you how much you paid. You need to have a record of the actual payments that you made in 2025. Enter the full amount that you paid. The 7.5% of your AGI will be subtracted on your tax return.

You can claim the medical expenses that you paid for during the year.  Per IRS Publication 502, medical care expenses include payments for the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, or payments for treatments affecting any structure or function of the body.  If you visit the link above, you can see a complete list of all the deductible medical expenses.

Remember that to deduct medical expenses, you have to itemize your deductions instead of taking the Standard Deduction.

Can I deduct medical expenses?

To enter your medical expenses in TurboTax:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Navigate to the Schedule A section:
    • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to Schedule A.
    • TurboTax Desktop: Search for Schedule A and then select the Jump to link.
