Do I need to use the TurboTax "Self-Employed" version if my wife does contract work and gets a 1099 even if this represents only 5% of our household income?

If you choose to deduct expenses, you will need the Self-employment Edition. If you just want to enter the income, you may use Deluxe.

According to the IRS, anything over $400 is subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes. The percentage of household income it represents has no bearing on its taxablity.
