I've received a job offer that's going to take me to several different states between Fall 2022 - Fall 2023, meaning I'll be away from home during that time.
By the time I receive my 2022 tax returns I intend to E-File them with a Turbo Tax representative. I've never used Turbo Tax, but I believe their Full Service will work best for me.
I know I'll need to show them my W2 forms, but will I need to show them my ID of any kind? Like a driver's license or a passport or anything like that?
The CPA I currently work with only does in-person tax filing, and they require me to provide them with my ID and bank account number.
I would like to hear from an official representative of Turbo Tax to answer this question. Thank you in advance.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
I would expect them to ask for such things since they are completing a return remotely and they need to verify who you are so they can file a true and accurate return ... no ID usually means a fraudulent return.

@MrJcott - identity theft is such an issue these days, I would be SHOCKED if anyone who didn't know you (which would include TT, HR BLock , local accountants, etc.) offered to do your taxes without REQUIRING a government issued ID (driver's license, passport, green card, etc.) with your picture on it.
I would go as far to say it's an IRS requirment. Their volunteer programs (VITA and AARP) both require it.
As far as requiring the bank account number, that is a little different. If you are going to have the refund direct deposited, it is a best practice for the preparer to see it in writing - whether that from a bank statement, Bank letter head or just directly from the Bank App. It reduces the risk of error for the refund to bounce back to the IRS due to a bad routing number or account number.
