Do I need to request extensions for children I will claim as dependents?

I received an extension for 2018, but did not request extensions for my children who I will claim as tax dependents.  Is it necessary to file tax extensions for children I will claim as tax dependents?

No you do not need to request an exemption for your dependents.  However if one of your dependents is filing their own tax return, they would need to file their own exemption (or you would need to file one for them).
