Hello,
I'm amending my 2023 federal return to correct the carry forward capital loss amount. No change in tax. The only change is an extra $2,600 in capital loss that will roll over to 2024 and beyond.
I'm mailing out the corrected form 8949, corrected schedule D and the form 1040X.
my question, do I need to also file an amended return for the state of Arizona? In AZ form 140X, it does have a different amount for the capital loss carry forward. However no change in tax either.
also, if I need to amend the Arizona return, do I also mail out the corrected federal forms with the Arizona form 140X as well?

Any help here is much appreciated.
Yes, you should file an amended return for the state of Arizona. Per the AZ Form 140X Instructions, if you amend your federal return for 2024, you must also file an Arizona Form 140X for 2024.
No, you should not attach a copy of your federal forms with the Arizona Form 140x. Per instructions: You must include any form that is changed or was not included with your original tax return. Do NOT include a copy of your original tax return or a copy of the federal tax return.
@RachelW33 Understood. So only mail out the amended AZ form 140X by itself? The instructions say to 'include any supporting documents'. Aren't the corrected forms 8949 and Schedule D considered 'Supporting documents'?
My interpretation of the instructions is that those forms are not needed, but it won't hurt to include the federal schedules that were changed just to cover all of your bases. @Snowy_Desert
