Do I file my taxes jointly with my spouse if we got married before December 31st but the actual marriage certificate was sent to us January 5th?

Do I file my taxes jointly with my spouse if we got married before December 31st but the actual marriage certificate was sent to us January 5th?

You go by what your status was at the end of 2020.  If you were married at the end of 2020, you can file as Married Filing Joint.  When you received the marriage certificate does not indicate when you were married.

You go by what your status was at the end of 2020.  If you were married at the end of 2020, you can file as Married Filing Joint.  When you received the marriage certificate does not indicate when you were married.
