If you are the custodial parent then you get to file as Head of Household; you get earned income credit, and you get the childcare credit if you pay someone to take care of the children while you work. IF you sign a Form 8332 for the other parent that parent gets the child tax credit. The other parent does not get any of the other child-related credits--only the child tax credit for the child or children they enter on their return.
To get the EIC on the child you are NOT claiming you enter the child in the dependent section of the MY INFO tab and CAREFULLY answer all the following questions to indicate that you waived the right to the non custodial parent via a form 8332 ... then you will get the EIC/day care credit only for this child.
