I'm really frustrated with Intuit doing this. It's one of the most powerful tool and they want to take that away from us again. What a great way for us to stop using Intuit products!
Did you know that in Japan, they do taxes by the government sending a postcard that essentially says we did your taxes, and we think you owe, or we owe you X amount of yen.
TurboTax, and HR block lobby hard to keep the tax code complex so they make money. They use the money we pay them to lobby our government. And now they are reducing functionality to save more money. Eff them.
This has become a yearly spit-in-the-face by Intuit to longtime, PAYING customers. It’s Deductible has been a critical part of TurboTax for years. This “final” discontinuation of It’s Deductible shows either Intuit’s complete disloyalty to its customers or shortsighted greed (“Hey, we can save a few bucks by ending the service. What are customers gonna do about it?”). It is offensive and unacceptable. Consumers are fed up with greedy and/or incompetent companies continually shrinking their products’ functionality — but NEVER lowering their prices. If Intuit is this short-sighted, user-unfriendly and/or incompetent, I am done with TurboTax (after 20+ years) and will encourage my CPA to stop using it as well. There are plenty of worthy competitors that don’t treat their customers like trash. Shame on Intuit — and bye-bye, TurboTax!
I’m very disappointed in your decision. I would pay for this software because it is extremely useful. Please reconsider. Now that I know there is an alternative out there for tracking charities, HRBlock, it will be much easier to move on.
Thanks for this info. Google says H&R block has an embedded calculator and also Tax Act had a Donation Assist app. I'd love to hear from others who may have used these. We all need to find something new.
I totally agree with your comments. Why would they discontinue before the end of the year? They did this last year and then said they would continue the program. If they do not want to provide this service, then at least finish out the tax year so we are not in a mess. Turbo Tax is not what they used to be........
Reply from complaint to the office of the president - 20+ year subscription canceled and all forms of payment removed from their site.
I’m reaching out from TurboTax Customer Care on behalf of Intuit's Office of the President in response to your recent complaint. Thank you for taking the time to speak with us regarding the discontinuance of ItsDeductible. First and foremost, I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
We truly value hearing from our customers—even when it's difficult—because your feedback helps us better understand the impact of our decisions. We’re very sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused. We understand how upsetting it can be to feel caught off guard by a change, especially one that affects how you’ve comfortably used our software for many years. We know that many of our loyal ItsDeductible users may feel disappointed, and for that, we truly apologize.
The decision regarding the discontinuance of ItsDeductible was not made lightly. We recognize that this doesn’t make the change any easier, and we regret that it has created additional effort on your part. While it’s possible that the decision could be reversed or a possible replacement product in the future, there is no guarantee.
As a quick recap of our conversation, You expressed the following concerns and recommendations:
We understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, and again, we are truly sorry for any disruption this has caused. Your feedback has been heard, and it will be shared with the appropriate teams. Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. As all your questions have been resolved, your case is now considered closed. If you need any support in the future, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [phone number removed]. We’re here to help.
With sincere apologies,
I just logged onto ItsDeductible and left the following feedback:
I've been using ItsDeductible since it was a hard-copy booklet published by Income Dynamics, Inc. I've been using TurboTax (formerly MacInTax) every year since 1989. However, unless ItsDeductible remains available—or its functionality is incorporated into TurboTax—I will be switching to a different tax preparation application going forward.
I almost made the switch to H&R Block this year, after enduring the absurdly tedious change in the way TurboTax 2024 imported interest & dividend statements. I decided to stick it out in hopes they'd return to the previous approach for 2025. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Intuit follows through on their "threat" to kill ItsDeductible next month.
Notice that they seem to have the funds for their ridiculous badge program. I just earned my "First Reply" badge and could care less about the badge or the added, totally unnecessary, email.
this comment nails it
Yesterday, I received a call from Intuit TurboTax, but I was tied up with a prior commitment and couldn’t answer. They followed up with an email inviting me to schedule a call to discuss my concerns. The tone was surprisingly optimistic, suggesting they believed a resolution might be possible.
I spoke with a different representative this morning. She was pleasant and receptive, and took time to listen. However, she wasn’t able to offer any resolution or new information. In fact, she confirmed there’s currently no update regarding a delay or reversal of Intuit’s decision to sunset ItsDeductible.
I took detailed notes and will share a full recap later today. Thanks again to everyone supporting this effort to help Intuit recognize the impact of this decision—and the opportunity they still have to make it right.
I also received an email following claims of a call (which I did not receive). Here's my response:
Best way to get your protests heard about discontinuation of Itsdeductible:
Call main support line: [phone number removed]
State that this is your purpose so that it can be documented. Be sure to state that it's a deal-breaker for you - that you're DONE with Turbotax if there's no Itsdeductible (if that is your situation).
At the end of the call with the support representative, you will receive a SURVEY in email, which mainly refers to the quality of the interaction you had with the rep, BUT, there is a COMMENTS section, in which you may clearly state your objections to the discontinuation of Itsdeductible. The COMMENTS are monitored most closely.
Why, why, why are you even considering discontinuing ItDeductible AGAIN? It is one of the reasons for my using TurboTax for the past almost 2 decades. Without it, there is no reason not to hunt for a viable alternative to TurboTax. Please, please don't make me do this--and please don't take away this very valuable customer benefit.
