Direct Deposit Input

As far as the information for direct debit or direct deposit, third party designee, etc. - it seems I can only do that in "Forms". Is that correct? Or do I have to do something in "Step by Step" to be able to input that information there.

It seems to me that "Forms" is to be used more for overrides, which I'd prefer not to do.

Direct Deposit Input

No, you can enter everything in Step-by-Step. The direct debit and direct deposit options come up in the File tab under File a return.

You are correct that you shouldn't use Forms mode to make changes to your return unless there's no other way to do it. You shouldn't do an override at all because it voids the accuracy guarantee and will prevent you from e-filing.

The proper use of Forms mode is to see how the forms are filled out and to trace figures back to the source of the data.
