I don’t understand this question- if my broker is doing the buying would this be considered a NO. since I wasn’t actually doing the buying. Or since he was buying for my portfolio on my behalf would it be answered YES. THANK YOU!

say yes if it's you thru broker that is still you buying - on the desktop version there is a note on this question "any inherited or gifted investments are not considered bought" so this is what they are trying to get at here with "no" answer
All these questions to get to the input for a 1099-B are generally annoying and redundant, it's a horrible workflow.
