Did not receive this eip but irs says I did

My account on irs.gov shows I received the third payment but we never received a payment. I did get the first and second ones previously direct deposited and all of my recent tax returns have been depositted to the same account. What steps do i need to take so the irs doesn't reject my return when I claim the recovery rebate credit?

I received a letter on january 26,2022 that says Your 2021 economic impact payment for the following total amount $2,800 but I never received a direct deposit or a card or a check an I qualify easely I must have been scamed my name is Ronnie J EMAIL [email address removed] or [phone number removed] [address removed] Please help me I'm 65 retired I've been to IRAQ an now I needed that money to keep my appartment

@rjohnsondallas57 - you will have to file a 'tracer form' and the Treasury Dept will figure out where the payment went.

If you checked your bank account in the March - May 2021 timeframe and there is not a $1,400 EIP3 payment from the IRS then go to this IRS website for how to start a trace on the payment - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/questions-and-answers-about-the-third-economic-impact-payment-topic-j-payment-issued-but-lost-stolen-destroyed-or-not-received
