If you have a 6-digit IP PIN, it changes every year and the IRS mails you a new one in December. If you lost it, you can call the IRS and ask them to mail a new one. IP PINs are only issued to victims of identity theft.
All taxpayers need a 5-digit e-file PIN to confirm their identity. This can either be the self-selected PIN you picked the first year you e-filed, or it can be your AGI from last year's tax return. If you filed with Turbotax last year and start this year by importing your file, your AGI or 5 digit pin will carry over automatically.
