Clarifiying my previous question on a 2024 Turbo tax question that I am being asked on a 1099-R from an inherited IRA:
"did {Donna] inherit the IRA from [brokerage]"
The 1099-R is for a distribution I received from an inherited IRA. This IRA was opened for me back in 2011 when my mother passed away. In other words, Schwab was NOT the original holder of my mother's IRA. I have been taking distributions from this inherited IRA since the account was established in my name at Schwab after my mother's death.
So how do I answer the question: Did Donna inherit the IRA from Charles Schwab? I think the answer is NO, since this account was established for me but would like confirmation on,
Thanks in advance!

it asks that on every 1099-R I think you can safely say No to Charles being involved
Apparently those who wrote this question and those who reviewed the text of it for TurboTax failed English. TurboTax is really intending to ask if the IRA held by Charles Schwab is an inherited IRA. When informed of the improper phrasing, TurboTax Product Quality said the question is fine as written. (Poor phrasing is pervasive in TurboTax.)
