Deceased adult son

My son passed away at the end of August. I have his W2's. He was not married.  I am his next of kin(Mom). I know I need to fill out the 1310.  My questions are - Can I do this online?  Do I need to make him his own Turbo tax account sign in?  I live in Ohio, he lived in Michigan. Does that play a role in how I need to file?

Thank you for any help you can give,

Wendy

Yes, you can complete Form 1310 on TurboTax Online. You'll need to create an account for your son to prepare his return.

- In the personal info section, after entering his name, DOB, address, and social security number, you'll see a screen that says Let's check for some other situations

- Choose the option that says I'm preparing his return for [name], who passed away.

- Enter the date of death

- Using the magnifying glass at the top right of the screen, search for Form 1310 and click the jump to Form 1310 link

- Continue through the screens
