Current Depreciation Calculation for Year 2 5YR property with a change in Business Use %

When I increase the business use percent from 52.6% (2024) to 100% (2025) for a 5-year asset placed in service in 2024 it looks like the implied depreciation rate is 37.6% in Turbo Tax. I thought it should be 32% in year 2.  Where can I go to find the detailed calculation of the current depreciation amount shown on Form 4562.

In order to get to view all of those calculations you really need to be using the desktop version of TurboTax.  You can switch from the online version to the desktop version pretty easily.  Here are instructions on how to do it.

Current Depreciation Calculation for Year 2 5YR property with a change in Business Use %

Hello,

I am already using the desktop version of Turbo Tax.  I have never used the on line version.  Can you please provide additional guidance.

Thank you

TurboTax does not use the depreciation "tables" for depreciation (unless you go into the "Forms" and specifically tell it to use the "tables").  It uses a mathematical method that results in extra-high depreciation when the business percentage goes up, and and extra-low depreciation when the business percentage goes down.  There is no way to see the actual calculation.

If TurboTax (and several other major software brands) is doing the correct order of calculations, that is correct when using that method.

If you don't want to use that method and you are using the desktop/downloaded version of TurboTax, you can go into the "Forms", find the "Asset Entry Wks" and scroll WAY down to the bottom and check the box to use the IRS "tables".
