It is saying my son doesn't qualify for the child credit and only qualifies for the $500 credit for other dependent. Why is this?

One possibility is that his age must have been 16 or under as of December 31, 2022, in order for him to qualify.
If he is age 17 or older in 2022 then he no longer qualifies for the Child Tax Credit. He is eligible for the Other Dependent credit of $500.
he was just born last year
If he was born in 2022, be sure to indicate in the TT program that he lived with you all year.

Go back to the My Info/Personal Info section and edit his information. You should have indicated that he lived with you for the whole year if he was born in 2022. You will also need to indicate that he did NOT provide over one-half of his own support.
