Child Tax Credit

Will I qualify for the 2022 Child Tax Credit if I just have SSI disability unearned income?

Do I need a minimum earned income for 2022 CTC?

How much could I expect to revive with one 4-year-old child?

Child Tax Credit

The Child Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit are meant to help working parents with low to moderate incomes. For that reason, families must have a minimum of $2,500 of earned income to claim the ACTC. Earned income can come from salaries and wages, self-employment, and some disability payments.

Child Tax Credit

Hi, @Calypsographx  , thanks for the question!

Yes, you can get the Child Tax Credit even if you only have unearned income. You may receive a credit of up to $2,000. However, it is a "non-refundable" credit, meaning that it can only reduce your tax liability to zero. In other words, you won't get a refund for any credit amount above that.
