Child tax credit

How will the child tax credit be credited this year. Is the government giving the same amounts or are they changing the rules again??

Hello ZinaLeake,

For 2022 the child tax credit reverts back to $2,000 per eligible dependent 16 years old and under and $500 for eligible dependents 17 years and older. This credit is claimed when you file your 2022 taxes next year. There are no advanced payments for this and everything is claimed once you file you 2022 taxes.
