Child economic payments

My mother claimed my son without my permission. I found out when my electronic return was rejected. I had to send in a paper return,and put my son down as my dependent on the return. 

I never heard anything,nor did my mother get audited. 

Since she done that she also ended up receiving all of my son's economic payments also. Even though the following year I was able to file before she did and I did claim him on my return,I never got the economic payments for him,my mother did.

I have tried so hard to find someone to help me so I can fix this issue. I have hit many dead ends because the IRS website just tells me what the qualifications are bit doesn't help me actually get anything done about it. Please some tell me what I need to do.

The only thing you can do is call the IRS and tell them what happened so they can launch an investigation. Their number is 1-800-829-1040. You may hear from them eventually regarding the tax return you filed even if you don't call them, as they may have not gotten around to addressing that issue yet.
