I can't enter estimated taxes paid on line 65 of your form 1040 using these steps below. The entered amount of estimated taxes paid doesn't transfer to line 65 of 1040 Form

To enter estimated taxes paid -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on
  • Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  • On Estimates, click the start or update button

Please try this: Type “estimates paid” in the search or Find box and use the “Jump to” link. Click on the blue jump to link. You will enter estimated tax payments, under Estimates, in the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section.  If it doesn't work let me know so that i can assist you further

Then you are possibly entering the dates wrong.  Check the year you are entering again.  You can also make direct entries on the Tax Payments Worksheet.  Click on Forms on the upper right, then click on the Tax Payments worksheet on the left.

Thank you so much

This is a new forum layout. Some posts that have June 2019 dates are really older posts from the old forum that got moved over. So they might be for prior years and not current info. When they migrated over the dates got changed to June 2019. And the screen shots got deleted.

Those steps were for 2017 and prior.  If you need to enter estimates for 2018.......

You can type estimates paid in the search box at the top of your return and click Find and it will give you a link to Jump To it.

OR

To enter Federal or State Estimated Taxes Paid, including a state estimated payment made in January for the prior year, go to

Federal on left or at top.  Personal (Home & Business)

Deductions and Credits at top

Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

Estimated Taxes - click the Start or Update button

Estimates paid will be on Schedule 5 line 66 which goes to 1040 line 17.
