Please explain "repaying" for e-file.  Are you referring to the fee to e-file your state return--or something else?

I paid when I filed in February but today Turbo Tax says I never filed. So why is it necessary to pay twice?

One State return was free, I  paid again for the second State but now TT says I never filed?

Paying the fee does not file your tax return.  If you did not go all the way to that big orange button that says "Transmit my return now" then you did not file it.

You are posting your question from desktop software--as if you used software installed to your own computer from a CD/download.  Is that what you really used?  Or did you use online TurboTax?  If you used online TurbotTax you might even be looking in the wrong account.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax?  If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

About the Desktop program.  You do get one free state program download to prepare returns for that state.  BUT it is 19.99 (24.99 after March 1) to efile EACH state return including the first one.  What you got was only the state program.

Then did you have to buy a second different state program for 44.99?

I just paid $49.98 for both States. I was not allowed a free state filing?

No.  As I explained it is 24.99 to efile each state from the Desktop program (including the first state).

There is a lot of confusion about this. For the Desktop versions Deluxe and above, it's a free download of one state preparation PROGRAM, not returns filed. You can prepare unlimited federal and unlimited state returns. Some people need to file in more than one state so they have to buy another state program at 44.99. You can print and mail the state for free or each state return (including the first one) is 19.99 until March, then goes to 24.99.
