Can you file federal jointly and state separately in this instance?

Wife lives in Wisconsin, husband lives in Michigan. Husband is the main breadwinner and usually the sole earner, but this year wife made a bit of self-employment income (around $600) that she needs to report.

How would they go about filing taxes? Could they file federal jointly and state separately?

Can you file federal jointly and state separately in this instance?

if her income is just $600 , there is no filing requirement in WI.

file joint for federal and file as you normally do in MI.  no need to file WI.

I actually was doing more research and it says self-employed individuals who make over $400 must file a return. How would the wife go about filing in this case, if you could help me a bit further?
