Trying to file taxes from 2018 because it needs to be submitted now but would like to get it submitted today without making a payment on taxes owed today. Can only see options to pay today, is that the only option when e filing?

You can use the pay by check option and then e-file the tax return. The check option means you will be mailing a check for the taxes owed with a Payment Voucher, Form 1040-V.
You are not required to pay by check even if you use this option. You can still pay the taxes owed using the IRS website for payments - https://www.irs.gov/payments
the longer you take to pay the more in late payment penalties and interest. if you can pay in full soon, do so. if not
go to irs website
and set up a payment plan.
or offer in compromise
or see if you qualify for delayed action.
don't ignore this. the IRS has the power to put liens on everything you own, garnish your paycheck, etc.
