Can we change our filing status from married filing jointly, to married filing separately? We filed our taxes but need to change our status. How do we do this, this year?

I would amend the return you have already filed to be Married Filing Separately for yourself.

Then I would prepare a separate/new return for your Spouse as Married Filing Separately.

That will amend your filed return to MFS for you and you will also e-file (via another account) a MFS return for your spouse.

We have already filed. I do not think this answer applies to our situation.

My apologies. I just edited the answer. When the amendment form is available (It's Feb 22nd now), I would amend the current e-filed return. When you try to e-file your spouse's MFS return, it may be rejected because one has already been filed. Since it takes a while to process the amendment and you have to mail it in, I would print the MFS return for your spouse and mail that in if it is rejected.
